Degraded RAID volume will not rebuild after failed hard drive is replaced
Description

I replaced a failed RAID hard drive with a new hard drive, but it’s not rebuilding.

Solution

This is expected behavior. User action is required.

Use the following steps to start a rebuild of a degraded RAID volume after replacing the failed hard drive with a new hard drive of equal or larger size.

  1. Power on the system.
  2. Open the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology user interface. After the operating system is running, click Intel® Rapid Storage Technology in the Start Menu or right-click the Intel Rapid Storage Technology tray icon and click Intel® Rapid Storage Technology.
  3. Click Rebuild to another disk.
  4. Select the new hard drive.
  5. Click Rebuild.
