WORKAROUND:
If the HP Officejet Pro driver fails to function across the network, try loading and sharing the Microsoft-written HP Deskjet 550C mini-driver on the host PC. This universal driver is located on the Windows installation CD-ROM. Use the same driver on the client PCs as well. Then connect using the same directions in the sections above.
Follow these steps to load the universal HP Deskjet printer driver (HP Deskjet 550C printer).
The Windows installation CD-ROM may be required for this procedure. Have it available during this procedure:
1.
From the host PC, or a client PC, select Start, Settings, and Printers.
2.
Select Add Printer to launch the Add Printer Wizard.
3.
Select Next.
4.
Select Local Printer then Next.
5.
Under Manufacturers, select HP. Under Printers, select HP Deskjet 550C Printer. Select Next. If prompted for the Windows installation CD-ROM, insert it into the CD-ROM drive, and click OK. Ensure that the CD-ROM drive letter (for example, D:) is selected.
6.
Under Available Ports, if this is the host PC, select the port to which the unit is attached, for example, LPT:1. If this is a client PC, select Add Port, and Browse for the host PC address. Double-click the address; then double-click the shared printer. Select Next. If the shared printer does not appear, see the section above, “Setting up the unit as a shared printer.
